    Over the Moon

There was a fantastic post (again) over on Pioneer Woman Photography by Ivoryhut all about taking pictures of the moon. This is something I’ve never been able to really do. Get a good picture of the moon. Thanks to her post I have the best shot I’ve ever taken.

No tripod, middle of the night, holding my breath and praying it would work.

    I’ll take it.

  • A little bit country

    A little bit country

Down and around the bend from my home there are some back roads and beautiful woods.  There have been a riot of colors this year.

If you follow that road down and around then hang a left at the fork in the road you will find yourself walking to a different beat.

And after all of that, you might find the need to sit a spell and rest a while.

    I love this town!

    Change of Perspective

One of my favorite Photography blogs, Hope and Believe, has a thing they call the weekly challenge.  They challenge each other to improve their photography skills and invite others to join the fun.  I happened to have a couple pictures in my files that fit this weeks challenge, How low can you go? and decided to play.

    Yellow roses

These are from my favorite garden.  Sometimes the sky is just so pretty I want to make sure it’s in the photo too.

    The Beach, Part Deux

Here are a couple more pictures from my morning at the beach.  I like the one above for the colors that you can see as the sun shines through the water.  It’s what I was thinking about when I was planning the quilt for G.

    seagull

The beach is the only place I like to see Seagulls.  They’re pests just about everywhere else.  But they’re pretty at the beach.

    Life at the Beach

I’m not sure what I like more when I go to the beach.  Watching the play of light on the sand and the water.  The sound of the waves crashing into each other and the shore.  Or simply watching others enjoy the beach.  Especially the animals.  Like this Puppy.  Who knows how old he is, he is a puppy for sure.  And this is what he’s chasing.

    Sand Crab

Ghost Crabs were all over the beach at this point digging in and out of the sand.  They stayed clear of people and any time anything moved near them they were back inside the sand as quick as you could blink.  The dog was going to catch one though.  The first picture I took actually shows how determined he is.

    i-can-get-it

He would get up.  Sit for a moment and then move on to the next Ghost Crab that caught his eye.  He was having a great time too.  In reality, he didn’t care if he caught one.  He just wanted to keep chasing them and was really happy that there were so many of them to chase.

  • Why I like Girl’s Camp

    Why I like Girl’s Camp

    • For one week a year the girls in our church have a chance to get together and just be themselves.
    • I have a teenage daughter who has learned much from being able to participate in this camp every year.  In spite of having a learning disability she has been accepted.  This year was her fourth year and they went on a 25 mile hike together over 3 days.
    • Being able to be just a bit silly myself sometime during this week.  Not one of the girls, but a little more relaxed than when your not camping.

    • Scenes like the one above early in the morning before any of the girls would even think of waking up.

PS – Things I don’t like: really LOUD birds with a rooster complex who think it’s their job to sing so the sun will rise!  It will do just fine without you for cryin’ out loud!  Give it up.
